Jurassic Park Scene Recreation

They only had five days to produce the CG for this short clip for theĀ Film Riot Movie Challenge, all done in Blender. But it came out spectacular, IMHO. And anything with dinosaurs just has to be cool. The end result was a convincing recreation of the initial T-Rex scene in Jurassic Park. Here is the breakdown of how the T-Rex was made and animated for it.

More Camera Tracking with Blender

Integrating a model convincingly into an actual video shot is definitely a challenge. Especially when you have elements in the video that’s moving, the camera is moving, the lighting is diffused and the model has specific movements required to enhance it’s realism. In this case, the road was a little bumpy and the car had to move over it like you’d expect it to, with the suspension moving with the irregularities in the road and the car rocking slightly as a result. Very subtle. A lot of work for a few seconds but with remarkable results.

Nokia 3310 Timelapse

I really like timelapses. I’m familiar enough with Blender to be able to riddle things out as I watch the person work and there’s always some little gem I pick up in there along the way. This one is a timelapse of the creation of a Nokia 3310 phone. I modeled my HTC not long ago – should probably do something with it and put it in my gallery.
