Dherring

Dherring

Dherring

Home of the Ordan

  • Gravity: 2 x Earth
  • Diameter: 1.6 x Earth
  • Atmosphere: Oxygen-rich, 3 times denser than Earth.
  • Day Length: 27 hours
  • Moons: 3. Two are Mercury sized, one is more like Ceres.
  • Binary: No
  • Environment: Largely rocky landmasses and deep oceans. Only patches of forests. Dherring has a large tropical zone that eases to stable polar caps.
  • Orbit: Nearly circular.
  • Tilt: Mild. Seasons tend to be mild and stable.
  • Sun: Solitary yellow dwarf similar to the sun of the Earth.

Notes:

Dherring is a periodic target of a pulsar a few light-years distant. As the pulsar wobbles, its beam of radiation washes over the planet, overwhelming the magnetosphere and stripping most life from the surface. The greater portion of life is subterranean and oceanic. The Ordan was the former.

The Ordan were finally able to rise above the caves as their technology improved until in contemporary times they occupy tall cities that dot the landscape. The pulsar now creates a pretty light-show on their shielding every few decades. Their prowess in technology that stemmed from their habitat innovation translated well into the needs of the Cooperative. Their first city is Rosteran, and this city is where much of their manufacturing for the Cooperative takes place. Their manufacturing capabilities also exist in orbit as well, exploiting microgravity.

Mor’ite

Mor’ite

Home of the Leif

  • Gravity: 1.25 x Earth
  • Diameter: 1.1 x Earth
  • Atmosphere: Oxygen-rich, 2.5 times denser than Earth.
  • Day Length: 31 hours
  • Moons: 2 moons size of Ceres.
  • Binary: Yes. Mor’ite orbits a hot brown dwarf.
  • Environment: Large continents framing large, deep oceans. Mor’ite has a modest tropical zone that eases to seasonal polar caps.
  • Orbit: Nearly circular.
  • Tilt: Moderate. Seasons are mild.
  • Sun: Binary white dwarf. Its partner is the brown dwarf that Mor’ite orbits.

Notes:

Mor’ite is an ancient world in a system lit by a white dwarf. It is kept warm by the hot brown dwarf it closely orbits. Its forests are largely fungal-based. The brightest part of its day is closer to Terra’s golden hour. Its system contains some of the richest asteroid mines in the Cooperative.

Elmyph

Elmyph

Elmyph

Home of the Elder

  • Gravity: 1.05 x Earth
  • Diameter: 1.03 x Earth
  • Atmosphere: Oxygen-rich, 2 times denser than Earth.
  • Day Length: 26 hours
  • Moons: 6. One is similar to our Moon, the rest like Ceres.
  • Binary: No
  • Environment: Diverse landmasses and deep oceans. Elmyph has a large tropical zone that eases to small, polar caps.
  • Orbit: Moderately oval.
  • Tilt: Mild. Seasons tend to be mild and stable.
  • Sun: Binary yellow dwarf similar to the sun of the Earth. The sister sun is distant.

Notes:

Elmyph is commonly called the Elder’s Planet since he is one of the few that are able to travel to it. It is remote, and space in that part of space is smooth – access to the Fracture is impossible to all but those who create their own. The system resides on the inner side of the galactic Goldilocks zone, close enough to the galactic core that starlight actually casts shadows. The part of the planet most used in my stories is a tropical lagoon. There are also vast plains that have been populated with Rodan, the food-stock of Keratians. The Elder is a Keratian, as are two exiles there, and a visitor allowed there by Steven Crow.

Rholling

Rholling

Home of the Nistar

  • Gravity: 1.12 x Earth
  • Diameter: 1.5 x Earth
  • Atmosphere: Oxygen-rich, 1.15 times denser than Earth.
  • Day Length: 22 hours
  • Moons: 1 moon size of Mercury.
  • Binary: No.
  • Environment: Large continents framing large, deep oceans. Rholling has an extended, mild tropical zone that eases to seasonal polar caps.
  • Orbit: Nearly circular.
  • Tilt: Moderate. Seasons are mild.
  • Sun: Yellow dwarf, similar to Earth’s Sun.

Notes:

Rholling was one of the founding worlds of the Cooperative, and was equal to Senin in importance to the Cooperative. Like Senin, it was rendered inhabitable. The Sadari had dug in deeply with their troops of golems, and when the gate to their homeworld was shut, the golems all detonated, scorching the landscape and killing all life on land and in the oceans. During its early days in the Cooperative, it was seen as a neutral world and was where the original Cooperative treaties were hammered out and agreed to. The world was populated by a quiet species called the Nistar who preferred to remain in the background. In modern times, it was a melting-pot world, where species from all the other Cooperative member worlds traveled to and lived. Shortly before the War, the Nistar pretty much vanished. But they were not missed since they were not often seen. Since the destruction of Rholling, it was largely assumed the Nistar had gone extinct.

Senin

Home of the Faeries

  • Gravity: 1.10 x Earth
  • Diameter: 1.35 x Earth
  • Atmosphere: Oxygen-rich, 1.85 times denser than Earth.
  • Day Length: 26 hours
  • Moons: 1 moon size of Mercury.
  • Binary: No.
  • Environment: Large continents framing large, deep oceans. Senin has an extended, mild temperate zone that eases to seasonal polar caps. Pre and post-destruction.
  • Orbit: Nearly circular.
  • Tilt: Moderate. Seasons are mild.
  • Sun: Yellow dwarf, a little brighter than Earth’s Sun.

Notes:

Senin was one of the founding worlds of the Cooperative. It was the originating seat of the Archives before Senin died. An experiment in treating a deviant Gatekeeper went dreadfully wrong, resulting in Senin melting into a ball of superheated magma. Temporal eruptions kept the Faeries from remaining in orbit in their vast floating cities, and the planet had to be abandoned altogether.
